Built on the banks of the Tapaj\u00f3s River, the Santar\u00e9m Waterway Terminal \u201cJoaquim da Costa Pereira\u201d is fully designed to accommodate large vessels, including international cruise ships, which are expected to boost tourism in the region, creating jobs and income. It will also offer daily trips to the states of Amap\u00e1 and Amazonas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
With the capacity to serve approximately five thousand users per day in its over 22,000 square meters of built area, the structure, which required an investment exceeding R$ 93 million, also includes ticket counters, storage lockers, luggage carts, and wheelchairs. The boarding lounge features 1,205 seats, free Wi-Fi, and two escalators to enhance accessibility to the second floor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Air-conditioned, the public facility includes dressing rooms and restrooms for men, women, and people with disabilities. The area also features a pharmacy, three snack bars, a restaurant, and spaces for shops and kiosks, as well as offices for security and justice agencies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The construction of the terminal led to the creation of 850 jobs, including 700 direct and 150 indirect positions. It also achieved the integration of the Lower Amazon with the Calha Norte, Tapaj\u00f3s, Xingu, and the rest of Brazil, improving the lives of over 310,000 residents of the Lower Amazon. These residents will now benefit in various ways from what is already being considered the largest and most modern public passenger waterway terminal in Brazil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
